Week 11. It was recently my mother’s birthday, and my dad decided he’d be taking her out for a play. My sister and I had the good fortune of getting to tag along for the dinner beforehand, at a local restaurant that happened to be nearby. The place we settled on going to was called The Nugget, after being recommended to it by one of the people who worked at the theater.
Initially, I had a good impression of the place. It was close by to where we wanted to go, so required little walking on my end. That’s always a bonus. Also, the outside seating area was excellent. It was a bit crowded, and “under-chaired” if you catch my drift. I had to ask to borrow a chair, but ultimately wasn’t a big deal in the long run. We made our orders rather quickly, as we all had places to be.
I personally opted for the calamari strips and the Tri Tip Dip. (If you know anything about me, you know i’m a huge fan of calamari when it’s done correctly. As a table, we got some chips, accompanied by guacamole and salsa. Overall, it was relatively quick service which we were obviously grateful for due to the time constraints we had.
The atmosphere was nice. We were able to enjoy our meal in relative peace. We didn’t officially celebrate my mothers birthday there, but she did in fact mention that it was, indeed, just recently her birthday. My food was excellent. The calamari strips were a nice change, as typically i’m just used to your average fried calamari. This was different, having been arranged in what I could only describe as a “calamari tender” that had been cut into pieces.
My main dish, the Tri Tip Dip, was excellent. It was just what I needed. It was relatively light of a meal, and it was clear that they used a very high quality meat in the making of this sandwich. The dip was incredible was well, complementing the preexisting flavors. They went a bit heavy on the fries, but who am I to complain? Overall, a good entree.
Alright, lets get down to the numbers. The feel of the restaurant was pretty good. At times it felt cramped, however overall it wasn’t anything bad and I can safely say I had an above average experience. The food itself was excellent, being very flavorful and at the same time looking just as delicious as it was. Price was alright. For what we were getting, it defiantly was a fair price. Overall, not many complaints. The only thing I can say is that I would of liked slightly faster service on the drinks, but beyond that it was fairly flawless.
So there you have it, this weeks review. In conclusion, i’d recommend taking a visit to The Nugget. Perhaps don’t go out of your way, but if you are in the area, do give it a chance- i’m sure it’ll be good! Let me know what you want to see next week in the comments.
